Love from Kent
We live in Kent and we love Kent!
What do we love about Kent?
- Meandering around towns and villages hunting out all the quirky and independent shops
- Walking on the beaches, sometimes dipping our toes in the sea and definitely eating ice cream
- Hiking on the Downs
- Drinking tea and eating cake in the cafes and tea shops
- The many many National Trust properties
- Touring and tasting wine in the Kent vineyards
- Craft fairs
- The people!
Kent is full of very talented designers, artisans and craftspeople creating beautiful things. But, unless you know them or see them at craft fairs, it is very difficult to find them and buy from them. We love wandering around craft fairs, finding such talents and making it easy for everyone to buy their work through our website!
We have scoured the four corners (well if it had corners) of Kent to find the very best of Kent made goods. We hope you will enjoy the range of exciting and unique products we have found. We are very proud of our makers and what we have to offer.
Everything for sale on our website is designed or made in Kent (with the exception of the occasional guest supplier, labelled as such). Some of the items are made at kitchen tables or guest/sewing rooms and others are made in workshops or commercial premises. Each maker has their own story. Most items for sale are made by hand not machine. All are made with love.
Not all the materials are from Kent. But until we grow cotton, soya, oranges, etc in Kent it would not be possible to provide a range of goods without going outside for some materials. Nonetheless, we encourage our makers to also buy local and if they can’t source materials in Kent, then to try elsewhere in the UK before resorting to overseas.
Why Buy Local?
There are many many reasons to buy local. Here are a few of our favourites:
- You keep money in the local economy and create local jobs.
- You nurture community
- You help the environment
- You invest in entrepreneurship
- You get the best customer service!
